Let's Grow Together in 2018!

Ascend is a verb. Action and intentionality are always required to ascend. In fact, the idea of a follower of Jesus not living a life of constant spiritual ascension can’t be found anywhere in the Bible. In the book of Acts, when the church was in its infancy, the disciples of Jesus were accused of “turning the world upside down.” Their boldness and passion for sharing the gospel was a direct result of their willingness to grow as disciples of Jesus and in obedience to the Holy Spirit. It was important to them, and if we, the modern church, are going to turn the world upside down, then ascending toward spiritual maturity must be important for us as well.

This is my challenge for us today. It is said that the first step is always the hardest, but in order to climb any mountain or conquer any challenge, we must be willing to take that first step. Let’s do it! Let’s take that first step together with hearts willing to see what God can do when we collectively commit to ASCEND spiritually in 2018.

5 Ways We Must Grow

COMMIT

Healthy Disciples COMMIT to value the worship of God above anything else in their life. They do so by consistently reading the Bible, praying, tithing, being a part of small groups, and attending corporate worship.

CONNECT

Healthy disciples CONNECT with each other in small groups. The relationships they make in this biblical community will make them stronger as they share each other’s burdens and joy.

GROW

Healthy disciples GROW through the study of God’s word and intentional relationships that are designed to explore further who they are becoming in Jesus.

SERVE

Healthy disciples SERVE the church. They use their unique spiritual gifts, talent, passion, personality, and experience to serve God through the local church. They know their role within the church is to minister to people.

GO

Healthy disciples GO to unreached people to make new disciples. They think beyond their immediate community and are on a mission to seek and save the lost.
